Trekking expedtion to Tung and Tikona, Kamshet - Lonavala

Our expedition to the breath taking and picturesque Tung and Tikona located in Kamshet, Lonavala last week was indeed a wonderful experience. The group comprised of 20 highly energized trekkers. We all started from Mumbai in the morning and reached Kamshet around 1000 hrs near the foothills of the beautiful ranges. The shape of the mountain peak is triangular in shape hence the name, Tikona! The place is surrounded by the mountain ranges on one side and the perennial Pawna dam on the other side.

The trek was very refreshing and exciting. In the evening, the group prepared food together and we had a gala time having lunch together! Our next destination was a local village by the name Chavsar where an echoing folk song (Koli) greeted us and left us amused.

The sunset provided the perfect backdrop as we wandered through the village. We paid a visit to an ancient temple in the village too. We were lucky to get some great Sunrise pictures next morning.

Another interesting experience was capturing the footprints of a leopard who had accidently visited the same trail to quench thirst. The expedition then led us to Tung and our happiness knew no bounds… We tasted some delicious local food (Indian bread made of rice grains and a pungent dry sauce called ‘thecha’…) oblivious to the fact that a pair of innocent eyes were observing us and i was fortunate enough to get a shot before the little angel disappeared!
We then hired a private jeep to reach the station as the local bus planned to play hide and seek with us J Finally, we reached our homes and hit the bed anticipating the Monday blues which was waiting at the other side of the dawn!
